The Story

Hi! I’m Lindsay, and I launched Little House Farm in 2022 right here on my family’s 2.5 acre homestead. After working in the education world for nearly a decade, including full-time teaching in public and private settings, I was ready to teach on my own the way I knew children learn best— outdoors and with rich, beautiful, living books. State standards are never used, not even as a “guideline” for planning. I use a combination of Charlotte Mason-inspired curricula and learning practices, as well as a splash of Montessori methods. Our days here are low-pressure, gentle, and relaxed. Nature study and farm chores play key roles in our daily routine, regardless of weather. We are outside daily— rain or shine. As a Virginia Master Naturalist, sustainability and conservation are at the heart of my nature education practices. A child’s interaction with and response to the world are the foundations of education here at Little House Farm. Teaching children to be good stewards of the world is my passion.
